Hanif Lalani: FTSE 100 FDs’ Excellence Award winner

BT finance director Hanif Lalani is the 2008 Real FD/CBI FD of the Year (FTSE 100) but the competition amongst the shortlisted blue chip FDs was extremely fierce this year.

Lalani won 29 per cent of the Academy vote while Andrew Higginson from Tesco was the runner up with 24 per cent.

The other finance directors on the shortlist were Paul Rayner (BAT), George Rose (BAE Systems) and Ashley Almanza (BG Group).

Lalani become group FD of BT in February 2005, having held a variety of roles in the company for the previous 22 years.

The Academy described him as being “a consummate professional who is now really hitting his stride and making a considerable impact on the company”.
